Matthew 2 verse 10-11.
'When they saw the star, they were filled with joy. The Wise Men went to the house. There they saw the child with his mother Mary. They bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures. They gave him gold, frankincense and myrrh.'

Jesus' family lived in Bethlehem, which in Hebrew means 'house of bread'. Jesus himself declared in John 6:35,
“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty”.

So, let us feast on Jesus' unconditional love and forgiveness. Let us receive his saving grace and accept him into our hearts and worship him this Christmas, both now, and for all eternity.

Profits are being donated to much needed funds for @thebraintumourcharity in loving memory of Christian White, my dear nephew who died in May 2020 aged just 17 years.

When we put our faith in Jesus Christ God's son, we have salvation from our sin and an eternal life with God the Father himself.

Petersfield Lake.

I was asked to capture the lasting beauty of this memorable and lovely iconic view, featuring Butser Hill and the South Downs Way as seen from the Lake, Petersfield.

I thoroughly enjoyed painting this familiar scene, enjoyed by so many who live here. I omitted the communications mast on Butser Hill, using artistic license.
The Heath and Lake are also a site of archeological significance due to the discovery of numerous burial mounds more recently.

Did you know that the elephant communicates by creating vibrations in its trachea? It produces low frequency rumbles that can travel up to six miles through the air.
Elephants use these low-frequency vocalisations to coordinate movements with other herds, far away.

In June 2022, "The Ivory Act came into force in the UK. This landmark act will help protect the world’s elephants by banning sales of ivory that may contribute to poaching... " WWF

I saw this beautiful creature in Thorny Bush Game reserve eating from acacia trees.
This graceful beast is a tall gentle giant.
It has seven vertebrae in its neck, the same as humans. Their environment is under threat.

Durdle Door, Dorset

"Durdle Door" I painted this the iconic stone arch using a palette knife. It was formed by the eroding of the Portland limestone approximately 10,000 years ago. The Arch makes up part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

"Blue Bell Woods."

Inspired by Durford Wood bluebells.

Here are ten amazing facts about bluebell woods taken from the Kent Wildlife trust.
1) Over half the world’s populations of these iconic wildflowers grow in the UK.

2) Bluebells are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. If you dig up a wild bluebell you can be heavily fined.

3) Ants help to spread bluebell seeds, so if you live near a bluebell wood you may find them popping up in your garden.

4) It takes several years for a native bluebell seed to grow into a bulb & subsequently flower.

5) Bees enjoy bluebell’s pollen & nectar. Sometimes they ‘steal’ it by biting a hole in the top of the flower.

6) The chequered skipper butterfly also nectars on bluebells, as do several moth species.

7) Folklore used to tell that bluebells ring at daybreak to call fairies to the woods.

8) Bluebell bulbs contain a starch that in Elizabethan times was used to stiffen ruffs.

9) Gum from the roots was used to glue feathers to arrows & in bookbinding.

10) Bluebell juice was said to cure snake bites, but is chemically very potent & can be toxic in large doses.

Ways to protect our flora and fauna:
Stay on designated paths. Keep dogs close. Leave BBQs at home. Take your litter home.

Tawny Owl

Sold little Tawny Owl today, to a lovely man who wanted at an affordable birthday present for someone.
Please join us at the Physic Garden in Petersfield this week, between 10am and 4 pm, for more original affordable Art.

Tawny Owl is an exquisite rounded red/ brown bird, which large dark eyes whose pretty face is ringed by darker feathers. It is prolific in UK Irish Woodlands. These territorial, nocturnal birds roost against the main trunks of trees and create the iconic "twit twoo" cry, at night. They live in established pairs. Once fully grown, their young, leave their parents in Autumn.

Poppy Field

This painting was inspired by the beauty I saw, walking the South Downs Way, on the edge of a cornfield.
I will be exhibiting it in an art Exhibition, starting 16th -23rd July, in the Physic Garden, Petersfield, Hampshire.

The poppy evokes many emotions, especially rememberance and the hope of a peaceful future. It's blood red petals, remind me of the immeasurable cost of any war, on both sides.
Let us pray for peace in our time, all around the world.

Matthew 5 verse 9. Jesus said,
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."

Blessed means, spiritually at peace with God, filled with deep holy joy, living in God's favour.

Laughing Ostrich.

This powerful, flightless, African bird boasts the most resilient immune system never gets sick.
Its strong legs can sprint up to speeds of 35 miles an hour. They balance on just two toes, the longer of which has a deadly hook.
Ostriches are known to defend themselves against predictors such as a lion or cheetah, striking them with a fatal kick.

They have the largest eyes, measuring two inches across. When danger comes they don't bury their heads in sand as some people think, but lie down to lower their heads just above the ground.

They use their wings to scare off their enemies, as brakes when running, or to help their temperature regulation.

What can we learn from them? They are not as cowardly as we think!

Emperor Penguins are adapted to survive extreme temperatures of - 50 C and icy winds of up to 200 km/ hour, these beautiful birds live in up to 50 colonies on Antarctica.
They can dive up to 564 m down, twice the length of the Shard in London. They stand a lofty 120 cm tall and weigh up to 40 kg.
Threats to their environment due to climate change need addressing urgently and the WWF is funding necessary research to help protect them.
As a faithful pair, after mating, the female lays her one egg in May/June and passes it precariously across to the male,
who lovingly incubates the egg under a pouch of feather and fat. He balances it on his feet, until the female return from her nine weeks away feeding at sea.

"Reflections"

I was enjoying the incredible red and orange winter hues.
This view is taken of Bosham harbour looking west.

My reflections are this, that as we approach Christmas, this sunlit sky reminds me about Jesus, the son of God as a great light. In Isaiah 9, he foretells Jesus coming to earth around 2,000 before it actually happened.

Isaiah 9 v 2
"The people who walk in darkness
Will see a great light;
Those who live in a dark land,
The light will shine on them.

In Isaiah 9 verses 6-7 :
"For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end."

Langston Geese

Wild geese symbolised the Holy Spirit to early Celtic Christians which reminds me that Christians are free to worship God in many different ways.
This wild bird can navigate it's way using landmarks, rivers and understands which way is north by sensing the earth's magnetic field.
It conserves energy by flying in another birds slip stream.

I am reminded we are God's unique masterpieces, made in his image. We are all designed to know and love him, day to day. God already knows everything about you and me. Yes, he still loves us. Have a look at Psalm 139.

God loves us and sent his son Jesus (which means saviour) to die for me, that I might live with him forever. He removes my sin, guilt and shame. But I have to turn from my sin and rebellion, recieve his forgiveness and enter in to his kingdom of righteousness, love peace and joy.

Don't delay, turn back to God today, for Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

This is for sale @galleryno30 . Fifi the owner has done an incredible job hosting, displaying different artwork. Such a joy to go there and enjoy what other creative artists have made.

This is one of my favourite British birds. It electric blue back, gives it away when it decides to swoop along riverbanks to fish.

As artists there is an exciting new medium being researched called structural colour. Structural colour is the nearest we can get to mimicking iridescent effects on bird feathers like Kingfishers. The research relies on nanotechnology to produce 3D microscopic prisms, that can manipulate light rays, causing them to omit specific colours, similar to what is seen on hummingbird feathers, tropical butterfly wings.
